Money doesn’t have to be complicated, it’s just a tool to help you live well. Mateo shares his simple approach, focusing on smart decisions, meaningful experiences, and making life a little more enjoyable along the way. He helps clients turn their goals into clear, practical strategies so they can move forward with confidence.

What is your financial purpose?

Money is a tool that creates opportunity. It allows me to provide stability for my family, pursue meaningful experiences, and make intentional choices about how we live our lives. My responsibility is not just to provide for my loved ones, but to manage these resources wisely so my family is supported without the burden of financial stress, while also learning the discipline of saving thoughtfully and spending with purpose.

True freedom is not defined by the amount of money I have, but by how I choose to use it. Even when resources are limited, opportunities still exist. A change in financial circumstances simply requires a change in strategy, not a loss of direction.

My goal is to use money deliberately to support a full and meaningful life, create lasting security for my family, and leave behind a legacy of wisdom, discipline, and intentional living.

Why did you become a wealth advisor?

My father is a financial planner, so this career path has always been familiar to me. As I began exploring my own direction, I knew that helping people needed to be a central part of my work. Coming from a background of medical professionals, I initially felt a sense of a predetermined path, but it did not align with who I am.

After exploring different options and receiving guidance from a mentor, I found that Texas A&M’s Financial Planning program was the right fit. It allowed me to pursue a career where I could make a meaningful impact by helping others make informed financial decisions.

Describe your values. What matters most to you?

My values are Family, Community, and Adaptability.

Family is a central part of my life. I define success by the time I am able to spend with my loved ones. For me and my wife, being “rich” is directly tied to the memories we create and the moments we share, both now and in the future.

Community also plays an important role in my life. I strive to support those around me whenever possible because investing in our community helps create a better future for everyone.

Adaptability is equally important. Every day presents an opportunity to learn and grow. In a fast-changing world, I believe it is important to remain coachable, embrace new perspectives, and learn from the experiences of others.

What makes you unique?

What sets me apart is my focus on leading with purpose rather than performance. I view money as a tool to help clients live intentionally, not simply as something to accumulate. I approach my role as a steward, guiding financial decisions with care and responsibility, not just managing assets.

I define wealth through relationships, helping clients connect their financial decisions to the time, experiences, and meaning they share with their families, while also extending that impact into their communities. At the same time, my commitment to coachability allows me to continuously improve and create a more collaborative planning experience.

The result is an approach that goes beyond traditional advice and helps clients align their resources with a life that is both meaningful and well managed.

How do you give back in the community?

I actively volunteer my time within my community. I served as a mentor for The Sanctuary, where I had the opportunity to support foster children through very challenging periods in their lives.

I am a past board member and current member of the Sugar Land Rotary Club, where I have helped coordinate fundraising efforts for organizations such as Attack Poverty, Fort Bend Women’s Center, and Parks Youth Ranch. I also currently serve on the board of the Bay Area Rowing Club.
