Now we turn the spotlight on Nick McGuire to share his personal "why." Nick shares his financial purpose, why he became a wealth advisor, and the values that guide the way he serves families like yours.
What is your financial purpose?
To me, financial success means creating stability for my family, being present in their lives, and building something that lasts beyond a single generation. It also means helping other families do the same, especially during the years when careers are accelerating, responsibilities are increasing, and financial decisions have the ability to carry long-term consequences.
Money is not the goal. It is a tool. Used wisely, it creates options, reduces anxiety, and allows families to live deliberately rather than reactively.
My purpose is to help people make decisions today that their future selves will be grateful for.
Why did you become a wealth advisor?
I grew up in Southern California until the 2008 financial crisis changed my family’s direction. After decades there, my parents moved us to the Dallas Fort Worth area to start over in many ways. My father launched a handyman business to support our family, and I became his first employee.
That experience shaped me more than any textbook could. I saw firsthand how quickly stability can shift, how much pressure financial uncertainty creates, and how important resilience and work ethic are when circumstances change.
When I went to Louisiana Tech, I was determined to earn a finance degree without excessive debt. During an internship with a wealth management firm, I realized something significant. Most financial stress is not caused by lack of intelligence. It is caused by lack of structure and regular proactive planning.
I chose to become a wealth advisor because I believe thoughtful preparation creates opportunity and changes trajectories.
Describe your values. What matters most to you?
My core values are Family, Balance, Meaningful Work, and Personal Growth.
Family is my primary responsibility. It influences the decisions I make and how I define success.
Balance is not a fixed destination but an intentional pursuit. Life often demands our attention in different areas at different times. I believe that financial success should support your life, not compete with it.
Meaningful Work means being proud of what I accomplish professionally and knowing my efforts make a lasting difference. I find the greatest fulfillment in serving others and helping them achieve clarity and confidence.
Personal Growth reflects my belief that we are never finished products. Continuous learning and improvement are essential, both as a professional and as a person.
What makes you unique?
What sets me apart is a combination of lived experience and professional structure. I am building my family and career while many of our clients are building theirs. I understand what it feels like to carry both opportunity and pressure at the same time.
I also bring the perspective of someone who has seen financial disruption up close. That experience informs how I think about risk, liquidity, and preparation.
I approach every client relationship with a long-term mindset and a sense of responsibility. I see my place in clients’ lives not just as planner, but as someone who walks alongside them during important life decisions.
My purpose is to help people make decisions today that their future selves will be grateful for.
How do you give back in the community?
Service is an extension of my profession. I am in my fourth year of volunteering with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and I serve as an advisory board member for the Louisiana Tech University Student Managed Investment Fund.
I am also a member of the Fort Bend Regional Partnership Leadership Forum Class of 2026, graduating this May. In addition, I am pursuing the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation to more effectively guide clients who seek to align their wealth with purposeful giving.
